Los Angeles Chapter ROTC Scholarships

AFCEA LA Chapter Scholarships are available to ROTC students (cadets and Midshipmen) enrolled at colleges and universities in the greater Los Angeles area. Preference will be given to students pursuing majors in science, mathematics, engineering, computer science, or natural sciences. Please submit a request for scholarship application to vpcomm@afcea-la.org. Applications must be submitted by the commanding ROTC officer prior to April 1 each year.

The AFCEA ROTC Honor Award is available to all ROTC units each and every year.  This certificate also comes with a ribbon for the ROTC cadet uniform.  Submit request online 30 days prior to presentation to allow time to process and mail the certificate and ribbon.

The AFCEA ROTC Honor Award is designed to recognize ROTC cadet and midshipman achievement in leadership and academics. Recipients of the ROTC Honor Award are required to be in their junior year of school and will be selected by individual Professors of Military Science, Naval Science or Aerospace Studies in accordance with the appropriate Service Department Regulations.

Students receiving the ROTC Honor Certificate Award must be U.S. citizens and juniors preparing to enter their senior year (rising seniors) who are majoring in electronics, electrical, aerospace, or communications engineering, mathematics, physics, computer science or technology, information management systems or related technical disciplines. Nominees should demonstrate high academic achievement.

The AFCEA Educational Foundation ROTC scholarships ranging from $2,000-$3,000 each are awarded to students enrolled full-time in C4I-related major or other fields of study. All applications must be endorsed and submitted by the ROTC Professors of Military Science, Naval Science or Aerospace Studies. Applicants must be at least a second-year college student enrolled full-time as a sophomores or juniors with an overall 3.0 GPA or above at four-year accredited college or university at the time of application submittal. Freshman and senior college students are ineligible to apply.

Deadline for application is mid February each year.

Military Members Scholarships

The AFCEA Los Angeles Chapter sponsors a scholarship for Active Duty, Reserve, and Guard personnel associated with Los Angeles Air Force Base.  Details at this LINK.

Teacher Of The Year Award

 The Los Angeles Chapter will award a science teacher in Los Angeles County the sum of $500 toward the purchase of consumable materials or other equipment that would support experiments in science education. The awards will be granted for projects or experiments related to space (preferred) or aerospace technology. Please submit a request for a teacher grant application to vpcomm@afcea-la.org Applications must be submitted prior to April 15 each year.
